2
Customize your watermark
Type your text, adjust font size and opacity, pick a color, and choose position from the 3×3 grid or tile mode for full coverage.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a watermark to a photo online for free?
▼
Upload your photo, type your watermark text (your name, website, or copyright notice), adjust the opacity so it's visible but not distracting (40–60% works well), position it in a corner, and click Download. The watermark is permanently embedded in the downloaded file.
What opacity should a watermark be?
▼
For copyright protection, 30–50% opacity is a good balance — visible enough to deter theft but not so opaque that it ruins the photo. For strong protection on proof images shared with clients, use 60–80%. The tile mode with 30% opacity provides excellent coverage.
Can people remove a watermark added with this tool?
▼
All watermarking makes removal more difficult. The tile mode (full coverage) is the hardest to remove cleanly as it overlays the entire image. Single-corner watermarks can be cropped, so use tile mode for maximum protection.
Should watermark text be white or black?
▼
White text with the 'dark outline' option works best on most photos as it remains visible on both light and dark areas. For images with predominantly white backgrounds (product photos, documents), use black text instead.
Can I add a logo watermark instead of text?
▼
Currently this tool supports text watermarks. For logo watermarks, use the Watermark Adder's text with your brand name, or combine it with the Image Annotator tool to place a small logo image on your photo.
