❓ FAQ
How many ml is 1 cup?
1 US cup = 236.6 ml (commonly rounded to 240 ml for convenience). Note: Australian and metric cups = 250 ml. Most online recipes use US cups (236.6 ml). Our converter uses US measurements.
How many tablespoons in one cup?
There are 16 tablespoons in 1 US cup. There are also 48 teaspoons in 1 cup (3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon, 16 tablespoons = 1 cup). So 1 cup = 16 tbsp = 48 tsp.
What is half a cup in ml?
Half a US cup = 118.3 ml (approximately 120 ml). Quarter cup = 59.1 ml (≈60 ml). Three-quarter cup = 177.4 ml (≈180 ml).
Why do recipes use cups instead of grams?
Cups are a volume measurement, grams are weight. Cups are convenient and do not require a kitchen scale. However, baking experts prefer grams as cups can be inaccurate — the same cup can hold very different weights of flour depending on how you scoop!
What is the difference between US and UK tablespoons?
US tablespoon = 14.79 ml. UK tablespoon = 17.76 ml (slightly bigger). Our converter uses US measurements which are standard for most online recipes. If using a UK recipe with a UK tablespoon, the amounts will be slightly larger.
